Entry Visa

An Entry Visa is granted to individuals applying from Australia who have close family ties or specific reasons to visit India, such as visiting family members, attending business meetings, participating in short-term courses, or engaging in other non-tourist activities. This visa is often issued to persons of Indian origin, their spouses and children, as well as foreign nationals who are immediate family members of Indian citizens or OCI/PIO cardholders. The visa is generally granted for the duration necessary for the intended purpose and allows multiple entries during its validity period.

Follow the below steps in order to apply

  1. Create an account (Register yourself) on Alankit Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website. Click Here to register.
  2. Fill the Govt of India's Online Visa Application Form. Click Here to access the Online Visa Application Portal.
  3. Select the REGULAR/PAPER VISA APPLICATION option. 
  4. Ensure that you select the appropriate option for the dropdown "Indian Mission/Office" as per your correct jurisdiction. To know your jurisdiction, refer to the "Jurisdiction" section.
  5. Print and sign your application.  
  6. Book your appointment online at Alankit Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website. You can choose a convenient date and time to visit the Alankit ICAC for your application submission. Click Here to book your appointment online.  
  7. Ensure that you have your passport, photographs and all other supporting documents, exactly as per the "Documents Checklist" section. 
  8. Visit the Alankit ICAC, as per your jurisdiction. The address and location of the ICAC will be clearly mentioned in the appontment letter. 
  9. Kindly ensure you reach the ICAC 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. 
  10. Submit your application and deposit your fees at Alankit ICAC. You can check the fee for this application under the "Fee Details" section. 
  11. Enroll for Biometrics at Alankit ICAC (if required)
  12. Your application submission process is now complete! You can avail our Courier service to get your passport delivered to your doorstep!

Document Checklist

  1. Fill out the online visa application form through the official government portal, then download, print, and sign it. Click here for application form.
  2. Attach one recent passport-size photograph (2x2 inches) meeting official specifications.
  3. Provide your current passport (with at least six months of validity and two blank pages) and a photocopy of the bio page.
  4. If your occupation on the visa form is "Journalist", you can only apply for a Journalist Visa.
  5. Include proof of financial standing, such as recent bank statements.
  6. Schedule an appointment letter if you plan to submit your application in person (not needed for postal submissions).
  7. Prepare your payment method (EFTPOS, MasterCard, Visa, cash, as specified at ICAC website)

Additional Documents Based on Conditions

  1. If you are Person of Indian Origin, spouse, or dependent:
    • Submit marriage certificate copy (if applicable).
    • Provide birth certificate copy for a dependent child under 15.
    • Include proof of Indian origin (old Indian passport, birth certificate, etc.).
  2. If applying with a foreign passport (non-Australian passport):
    • Provide proof of your visa status in Australia (VEVO, Visa Grant Notice, or sticker).
    • If you hold dual nationality (e.g., Australia and UK), submit photo page of your Australian passport.
  3. If you need to complete FORM D:
    • Fill FORM D if you were previously a national of Pakistan, Afghanistan, DPRK, or are a national of Iran, China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or are not a permanent resident of Australia.
  4. If you previously held Indian citizenship:
    • Provide proof of renunciation, like cancelled Indian passport or renunciation certificate.
    • If your Indian passport isn’t cancelled, submit it along with Form XXII, your foreign citizenship certificate, and a photo.
    • Include FORM J if your appearance differs between passports.
    • Submit name change certificate or statutory declaration if your name has changed.
    • If your Indian passport is lost, submit a statutory declaration explaining the situation, along with Form XXII and your foreign citizenship certificate.

Additional Documents for Minors

  1. Submit copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
  2. Provide passport copies of both parents (photo and signature pages).
  3. Make sure both parents sign the visa application form, or submit a no objection letter signed by both.
  4. If only one parent or guardian is applying, submit custody papers, death certificate, or proof of single parent status.

Specific Nationality Criteria

  1. If you hold dual nationality with Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka, submit both passports. Visa will be issued on the home country's passport.
  2. If you no longer hold these nationalities, submit a statutory declaration confirming this.
  3. Pakistan nationals must submit 4, 5, or 6 sets of the application depending on the number of cities they plan to visit.
  4. New Zealand passport holders who are permanent residents in Australia must submit a Medicare card copy.
  5. Czech Republic passport holders must show proof of at least one year of stay in Australia, passport with one-year validity, and medical insurance for their stay in India.
  6. Be aware that additional documents or information may be requested if needed.
