Employment Visa

An Employment Visa is issued to Australian passport holders or residents (with over two years of residency) who are appointed by Indian companies, organizations, or industries in highly skilled or senior roles such as technical experts, managers, or senior executives. This visa is not granted for ordinary, routine, or clerical positions, or for roles where sufficient qualified Indians are available. Applicants must provide proof of employment or contract, along with supporting documents of their educational qualifications and professional expertise. In addition to employees, certain categories such as consultants, foreign artists, sports coaches, specialist chefs, language teachers, and self-employed professionals offering highly skilled services are also eligible under this visa category. The visa is typically granted for periods ranging from six months to five years, depending on the nature of employment, with multiple entry permissions. For stays exceeding 180 days, registration with the relevant Indian authorities is mandatory within 14 days of arrival. Family members of Employment Visa holders can also be granted visas for the same duration. Certain nationalities require prior clearance from the Government of India before issuance.
