Re-issue of Passport in lieu of lost or damaged passport - Minors below 18 years

Reissue of passport is necessary when a minor's Indian passport has been lost or damaged. As per International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regulations, only machine-readable printed passports are valid for international travel. Therefore, in such cases, emergency or short-validity handwritten passports are no longer issued. Applicants must follow the normal reissue process to obtain a new passport. In cases of extreme emergency, such as the serious illness or death of an immediate family member, a one-way Emergency Certificate may be issued to enable urgent travel to India. This certificate is valid for one-time travel only, and once in India, a new passport must be obtained from the nearest Passport Issuing Authority for any further travel.

Note: Old passport shall be cancelled by the High Commission and cannot be used for travel once application for reissue is accepted.
